just had my GP prelims today.
my essay qn? "Museums are a waste of time and money. Discuss."
kinda want to take some time off, so im blogging. and again,
I JUST LOVE JAPAN!!!
she has such a gracious society!
im watching Mark Lee's new programme, "GRACIOUS PLANET", and i really recommend this show. i think all Singaporeans should watch it.
true enough, we have our very UNIQUE Singapore culture --- our kiasu-ism. but it is really impt to learn from these countries with long history and tradition that groom their ppl. look at the basic imptance of courtesy instilled in the Japanese since they're young, by their parents at home! haha, i am guilty, really. watching how the jap children and their parents greet each other when the leave and reach home but really, i dont nowadays. opps! pick up their good habits, girl! haha!
seriously, the japs live such a systematic life! it's a great environment. their service if really NUMBER 1! im shocked how the supermarket provide free service for grilling of meat that you buy to make it into a bento for you. and how the cashier would carefully wrap glass-bottled products and add ice to keep the fishes bought fresh. oh, and the customers have full trust in the supermarkets to sell only fresh goods. so, the customers just have to take any one displayed on the shelf and not start poking and peeling the veggies and fish like us. hah. im so in awe.
and look at their hospitality! welcoming guests into their homes readily, serving matcha and homemade sweets. well, i nv do that, to be honest. not to say pouring water for your guests automatically, i really dont like to entertain. but i promise, im going to pick up the good culture from the japs and start learning! also, perhaps i'll start sorting out my rubbish like them for recycling.
well, well. get your butt moving, chloe lee! stop sticking on the sofa like a couch potato staring at the tv! HAHA! =P
i just cant wait to earn enough money and be able to tour the whole of japan!!!
watching "Japan Hour" now on channelnewsasia. it's just amazing.
you see how dedicated the japanese are towards everything they do. it's their culture. look at their spread of delicacies! they treat food as a fine art. all ingredients used are fresh, specially chosen from the wet market. fishes are freshly caught in the local rivers and seas. dishes are kindly served in unique plates, baskets, bowls.. and anything you can think of. you can really see the heart and soul put in by the chefs through the neat presentation. i really respect them. that's why im so particular about food, i suppose. you compare the standards to that of singapore's. i love singapore's special delicacies!! but sometimes, im jus disappointed at how our restaurants or any eating place, place little attention to their presentation, and even the taste of the food! you advertise, with beautiful and attention-grabbing pictures of what you're selling but what you serve? a total opposite. imagine how much of a disappointment your customers will feel?
oh, and the service? the japanese really place an emphasis on tradition. how tradition is preserved in japan is really amazing. or you can say, tradition is made to suit the modern needs. see how the innkeepers dress up dutifully in their traditional costumes --- kimonos. it's such a beautiful sight! and, omg. there was this inn featured, where the owners and workers there specially rehearse traditional drum performances, illusion and special magic water performances! there, the dedication to provide premium service, the love for what they do. a tourist's sought-for. i dont suppose it's just me that feels this way? haha. it's as if im specially advertising for japan, right? well, maybe, yes! i jus love japan!!! and their natural hot spring baths! wheee!! =D
i simply have a love for fine cuisine and great fashion. a perfect combination to the world's ultimate luxury. of course, i wont forget how not everyone have this opportunity to splurge and enjoy. anyway, i respect people in these field, who really have a passion for their job. *SALUTE*!
